{ look for less } target boots

it's official, mama needs new boots. i have loved my intyce riding boots from steve madden for the past 2 winters. but yesterday my left foot sprung a leak ... a crack completely across the sole. very unfortunate considering it was a typical rainy winter day in nashville.

when i walked into work this morning - i was determined to shop during my lunch break for a new pair of boots. so of course i noticed tiffany in publishing sporting an awesome pair of boots. "figures," i thought to myself, "tiff has a pair of fryes." ... correction: tif has a pair of mossimo's from target 2 years ago that look EXACTLY like fryes. now we're talking.

the boot to be exact is the mossimo supply co. katherine engineer boot. apparently this boot sold out immediately after released in late 2009. now they've restocked for online purchase only. it's remarkably similar in style to the frye harness 12r boot - and, unlike most knockoffs, made of genuine leather.

i've always had my eye on the melissa button boot from frye. w+i have a friend that owns a pair in each color they carry. (speaking of colors ... i'm slightly green w/ envy!) so what do you think of this similar but much cheaper option? the kasia boot from merona. also made of genuine leather and available online only.

okay so i might have ordered a pair of each. i've seen the 1st boot - and it's spot on. and i can easily return the 2nd pair if they don't meet my expectations. and right now when you spend more than $50 @ target ... the shipping is on them. plus it's buy 1, get 1 50% off. goodbye, december clothes money (yes, i'm aware it's november).

unfortunately panera bread wouldn't let us cancel our breakfast order this am. so wade walked/risked his life {slight nashville snow exaggeration} to pick it up. can't let hot coffee and fresh pastries go to waste. thank the Lord i planned to place the lunch order at the start of the shoot.

{seriously though ... it took me AN HOUR and a push by a good snow-maritan to get home last night. and i only live 6 blocks away from the office.}

we're carb-ed ...

we're caffeinated ... (who needs the new starbucks' trenta when we each have one of these bad boys?!?) (yes over use of !?!?!'s - due to caffeine high!)

and ready to attack the day. now if only i can get to the fabric store!!!

whatever wednesday: HOT thoughts

these HOT pink, green, orange and blue trousers make me think nice warm thoughts - which i need right about now. {i'm especially a sucker for the pink!} we definitely need a zara in nashville OR they at least need to open an online store.

more snow ... again, nashville!?! boo hiss. maybe we'll be snowed in & i can dig further into my etsy idea (more to come!)!?! happy thought. but that would mean we'd have to reschedule the photo shoot i'm coordinating for tomorrow. {un}happy thought.

simple things: cold weather must-haves!

ever have a day when it's really hard to focus (um ... blog)?!? the 50-somethingº weather last weekend simply spoiled me! though it's been in the 30s for the majority of the winter ... i'm frozen SOLID today. just in time ... a list of cold weather must-haves:

1) for lips: burt's bees rejuvinating lip balm with açai berry. superfruit - the açai berry provides antioxidants AND vitamins a, c, d, and e as well as healthy omega oils! and it not only soothes dry, cracked lips - it smells out of this world!

2) for skin: la roche-possay anthelios sx daily moisturizing cream w/ sunscreen. i spend a penny more on skin care. my thoughts - if my skin is health & radiant, i won't have to spend on makeup to cover flaws (especially during summer months when my face is sun-kissed). bonus - this lightweight daily moisturizer provides 24 hours of sun protection (yes - the sun still shines in the winter!).

3) for hair: josie maran argan oil (a little something i picked up while honeymooning in morocco!). argan oil is know as morocco's miracle oil - loaded with vitamin E. it maximizes shine, tames frizz, smells FANTASTIC and is an intense conditioner healing everything from cuticle to split end. (oh - and it is great for skin as well.)

4) for hands & elbows: c.o bigelow lemon body cream. true story - i love anything in lemon scent! and i keep a little jar of this by the kitchen sink & on my bed stand. this ultra moisturizing non-greasy lotion is full of the good stuff - like shea butter and kukui nut oil - and it's super charged with lemon extract containing skin-brightening vitamin c!

5) for the whole: two leaves and a bud - jasmine petal green tea. best in a mug @ fidos. i love the delicate scent of the jasmine flower that lingers over this glass of warm tea - reminding me that spring is just around the corner. (thanks to punxsutawney phil, of course!)
